Sound Design and Composition
Spell-Reign
"Spell-Reign" is a 2D top-down action adventure game set in a fantastical 11th century Norman England. In order to fit the setting whilst sounding appropriately suited to the 8 bit visual design, I utilized a variety of VST's that mimicked the sound chips of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). However, I did not restrict myself to the number of tracks within my DAW (Cubase 9.5) to allow for more orchestral compositions.

The soundtrack and sound design of this title is one of my proudest achievements as not only were the songs praised by players at EGX, but my familiarity with Gamemaker Studio 2 by this point allowed me to manipulate the sound effects through code in ways that made the gameplay loop far more satisfying.
King of the Ring
My work on Spell-Reign attracted the attention of many people at EGX who went on to commission me for their own projects. One of which was a film student who was making an animated short film about Professional Wrestling in the style of 80s power metal. As an avid fan of the sport and their musical references, I was delighted to be a part of the project and I feel the use of purely live instrumentation on this track best showcases my abilities to produce
Kaiju Kerfuffle
Another project that came about via my time at EGX was a small indie game studio who were working on a title called "Kaiju Kerfuffle"; a party game in the style of Overcooked where up to 4 players would attempt to prevent a Kaiju from invading the level.
The following track is from their demo shown at Insomnia 2023 and has the most diverse arrangement of instruments I have used to date. Being set in a construction sight where kaiju's invade, the rhythm section is a combination of traditional percussion and mechanical equipment. Combining this with classical guitars, reversed and heavily modulated electric guitars, and a prominent bass creates a fittingly unsettling and whimsical atmosphere.
WWE 8-Bit Remixes
Throughout 2023, using the knowledge gained throughout Spell-Reign's development, I created a number of remixes of popular WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) entrance themes in the style of 8-Bit and 16-Bit generation consoles. The resultant recordings have now been viewed across my social media platforms over 200,000 times and have helped build confidence in my arranging and producing capabilities.

Flower Fishing
In 2024, I participated in a 48 hour Game Jam and won first prize in the audio category for my first HTML5 game, "Flower Fishing". An abstract game where you must collect pink flower petals flying across the screen with your mouse cursor to form a flower. I programmed, made the art and the audio entirely from scratch within this time period in order to test my ability to manage multiple jobs at once to great success.

Projekt Everblood
Projekt Everblood is a 2D top-down action game that draws great influence from the Wolfenstein series. To match the intensity and adrenaline pumping sound design of those games, I primarily used live instrumentation and composed a selection of heavy metal tracks.

The sound effects were recorded entirely using household items and members of Canterbury Christ Church University offered their voices to the characters. I then mixed and mastered these recordings using both Cubase LE AI Element 9.5 and Audacity.
Ripple
Ripple is an abstract arcade game where you use your mouse cursor to collect as many shapes as possible whilst avoiding the incoming lines. As I was working on my own for this project, I wanted to make sure the sound and visual design were as cohesive as possible, so I went for a minimalist approach to the songs; I only used two instruments in each composition (electronic piano and synth strings), which would play the rhythm section.
To keep the songs from become repetitive though, I coded the shapes to play random notes within the current tracks scale to act as the melody, so the track would be different every time the player restarted.
Commissions
Each of these were commissioned for me by independent game developers over the past 3 years and vary wildly in terms of instrumentation and genres, showcasing my ability to take direction from other creative individuals
